Retreat! Retreat!! This man is dangerous and I think just by knowing what he is answers our question to why he is allowed to see Mr. Hot-shot without an escort.

Who dares, wins!
Steal into the tent and see what you can find while he is distracted, I say!

Let him wake with a knife to his breast and his hands and mouth bound. Even the greatest sorcerer in the world isn't immune to cold steel in his chest.

Too true Silvanus. But it looks like we have a tie again. If there's no deciding vote by the end of the day here I'll flip a 3 sided coin for it.

Re: Altaea Saga: The Thousand Halls
The hairs on the back of your neck stand on end as you widen the incision in the cloth with your blade and creep into the tent. The man makes no indication he is aware of your presence and yet you still feel as though his eyes are upon you as he mutters arcane and indecihperable words to himself in his bizarre trance. The smell of incense mingles with the odour of fresh blood as you draw closer to the ring of eldritch symbols upon the dirt. Closer inspection reveals them to have been painted in blood. You do not wish to venture a guess as to what kind of creature it came from.
In the corner of the tent sits a bedroll and two heavy looking chests one of which is gilded with ornate golden framework. Your attempt to open the chests proves fruitless however, they are sealed shut by strong locks and there is no key in sight.
Will you:
Leave immediately?
Attack the magus while he is distracted?
Investigate the plain chest?
Investigate the gilded chest?
If you choose to investigate either of the chests you must decide how you wish to open them, Will you:
Force the lock with your dagger at the risk of making a noise?
OR
If you have the skill of Escapology you can try picking the lock at the risk of it taking longer?

I'm with Silv on this one. That magus needs to die.

You know me, I'm all about blood shed. Kill the Magus!! That said, is it possible for us to attack without killing so we can interrogate? Or is that a kin to suicide?

Re: Altaea Saga: The Thousand Halls
Yes!!! It is suicide!!! Kill him now! Stab him a bit, stab him some more, and then when he's very dead, lets ask a question or two!

The bad thing about magus is that all they sometimes need is to just say a word, so you run risks just by letting them speak to answer questions.

Re: Altaea Saga: The Thousand Halls
You draw your dagger, the rasp of the blade leaving the scabbard is muffled by the velvet lining and you poise the knife above your head, ready to drop it and deliver a swift and silent death to the mage. As you step forward into the ring of arcane symbols the man turns, his eyes wide with shock and his mouth agape in a mute cry of alarm. You are about to bring your arm down when he lets out an ululating cry.
"Sadish al Sallahn." The man stretches his hand out towards you as though beckoning you to approach and your chest spasms. You can only stare in horror as your heart bursts from your ribs into the hand of the mage who squeezes the still beating organ in his bony fingers, drenching them with your blood as you fall dead.
Your adventure ends here.
(We've hit our second instadeath. You guys know the drill, choose a place to rewind to and a new choice to make that will hopefully help us avoid a grim end. And let this be a warning to you. Don't fuck with mages. )

Re: Altaea Saga: The Thousand Halls
There's no need to read over the entire thing this time, it should be fairly obvious what to do to avoid getting mageraped here. Or at least I think it should be obvious.

I say we go back and investigate the simple chest, and try to pick the lock.
